Film starring Abbas Kiarostami to premiere at Tassvir Film Festival

‘Sohanak’ starring the late Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami, is to premiere at the 17th Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival.

The secretary of the 17th Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival says the movie ‘Sohanak’ starring the late prominent Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami, will premiere in the event.

Referring to the special program of the upcoming edition of the event, Seifollah Samadian said on Tuesday that Bahman, the son of Abbas Kiarostami, provided the festival with a version of ‘Taste of Cherry’ in which his father plays all roles in the film.

The film was named ‘Sohanak’ as it was filmed in a district of the same name, Samadian told reporters.

He noted that the 70-minute movie will be screened in Paris next spring.

Kiarostami died at the age of 76 after suffering a heart attack on July 4, 2016.

He received many awards, including the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’.

He was also a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The 17th Image of the Year and Tassvir Film Festival will be held on February 21-March 13 in Tehran.
